Terms
Updated 2026-11-05
These terms cover buying Pirate Life, and they are short on purpose.
Who sells it
You pay in USDC or by card. In USDC, we sell the game to you directly. By card, Polar sells it to you as the seller of record: it takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and sends the receipt, under its own terms. Either way, what you get and your unlock come from us, under these terms.
Paying by card
The price is 14.99 US dollars, paid once with no subscription, plus any sales tax or VAT Polar must charge where you live; the total shown at checkout is what you pay. When the payment goes through, the page you land on shows your unlock code and we email it to you.
Paying in USDC
- The price is 14.99 USDC (a dollar stablecoin), paid once with no subscription, and it includes any tax we must collect. Nothing is added by us; your wallet or exchange may charge its own network fee to send it.
- Your order gets a deposit address of its own, on the network you choose: Base, Arbitrum One, OP Mainnet, Polygon PoS or Ethereum, and only USDC on that network counts. The order stays open for 14 days.
- A payment up to 0.50 USDC short of the price is accepted, to cover an exchange's withdrawal fee.
- A blockchain payment can't be reversed, and anything sent in another token, on another network, or after the order has closed is not credited to the order. Write to us with the transaction link and we will send back what we can recover, less the network fee. If you pay more than the price, we send back the extra on request.
- When the payment is confirmed, your unlock code appears on the order page and we email it to you.
What you get
- Pirate Life, a sailing and trading game: captain a small brig and trade between the ports of the Windward Sea. This early version has three ports, and more are planned.
- Pirate Life is still being made, so you get the game as it is on the day you buy it and every update we release for it, up to and including version 1.0, at no extra cost and with no promised date. If work on the game stops before 1.0, you keep the last version we released.
- A download of the full game for Mac and for Windows, which plays offline with no account. New versions replace the old one at the download link in your email, and that link keeps working for at least two years from your purchase.
- An unlock code. Today it records that you bought the game, and the download already holds all of it; if a free version comes later, the same code unlocks the full game inside it.
- This is a direct purchase from us, and it does not include a Steam key.
System requirements
- Mac: macOS 11 or later, Apple silicon or Intel.
- Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit, with a graphics card that supports Vulkan or Direct3D 12.
- About 300 MB of free disk space.
- Until the game is signed with Apple's and Microsoft's certificates, your computer warns you the first time you open it. On a Mac, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway. On Windows, choose More info, then Run anyway. If you would rather not, ask for a refund.
Your unlock
- In Pirate Life, press Esc, choose Enter an Unlock Code and paste your code. The game checks it on your computer, without the internet, and keeps it there.
- The code is for you and your own computers: enter it on each one you play on, and don't share or post it.
- Lost the code? It is in the email, and we can send it again.
- Your email is written into your code, and anyone who sees the code can read it, so don't publish it or give it to others to use, and write to us if it leaks.
When a purchase ends
A refund or a chargeback ends the purchase, and you agree to delete the downloaded copy and stop using the unlock code.
Warranty and liability
If you buy as a consumer, the law where you live may give you a guarantee that what you bought works as described, and nothing here reduces it. Nothing in these terms limits your legal remedies if what you bought is not as described. Apart from those rights, for other losses and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid.
None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for harm caused on purpose or through gross negligence.
Refunds
See Refunds: 14 days, no questions asked.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change applies to purchases made after that date. It never takes away what you already bought.
